When a Wagyu calf is born at Carney Wagyu, it spends the first five months with its mother until it is weaned naturally and is old enough to graze with the rest of the herd.
Our cattle are primarily grain fed and grain finished, living in a stress-free environment where they exhibit their most natural behaviors. They come and go from barn to field as they please. The feed bunk, which provides supplemental nutrition, is kept full 24 hours a day so they can eat when they want – preventing the competitive stress of an assigned feeding time.
Our feed mix is a proprietary blend that’s hormone- and steroid-free, and consistently delivers 38-40% IMF – more than three times that of crossbred “American Wagyu.”
While American cattle breeds are typically harvested at 16 months, Wagyu cattle take longer to develop. We wait up to 30 months before harvest.
Our beef is processed in a new and modern facility, dry-aged for up to four weeks, and then trimmed into a wide range of popular cuts. We’re also able to deliver fresh beef for regular customers and custom cuts for restaurants and consumers.
By closely controlling the chain of custody, we can promise Carney Wagyu is raised and harvested humanely, using the traditional techniques and modern science that make it the world’s most prized source of beef.
